Breeding Process
At THE COUNTRY BEEHOUSE LLC, we are considered an in-home breeder, not a puppy mill. We invest much time, effort, and money to ensure we raise the best puppies possible. This includes the best foods, products, research, breeding certifications, OFA testing, potty training, desensitization exercises, daily weights, and monitoring, daily handling and play, outside activities, and reproductive veterinary care.
What's involved in Breeding?
Dog breeding is not a get-rich-quick scheme or for the weak at heart. Every litter runs the risk of complications which may require puppy resuscitation, mucous removal, helping mom deliver the puppy sac, cleaning pups, pups' failure to thrive, unborn puppies, puppies stuck in canal requiring urgent C-section, and so on. Once we are past delivery, pups must be closely monitored over two weeks to ensure they are thriving, and mom is doing well. During this time, mom require lots of attention, care, and dietary needs while she tends to her pup's demands. This includes ensuring she eats, drinks, and cleans up her pups, checking her for mastitis, ensuring puppies are drinking properly while gaining weight, and that moms are cleaned up daily. We spend much time ensuring mom and puppies are off to a good start.
Starting day two, puppies undergo desensitization exercises, neural stimulation activities, and a deworming protocol.
Our Services
In addition to mom and puppy care, we build and create many activity centers for the puppies. These could include hanging mobiles as their eyes open, cat tunnels for play, tons of toys, neighborhood socialization, free-range house roaming, and outside playtime, weather permitting. Puppies are also exposed to different sounds daily using recorded sounds or being introduced to sounds of the kitchen coffee grinder, blenders, food processor, etc.
