Hi, I’m Carolyn Taylor, the breeder behind The Countrybeehouse in Alton, NH. All of our king charles spaniel puppies are loved as family members. We cherish and help mold our puppies from birth until they leave our arms to snuggle into yours. Our small, family-run breeding program focuses on quality care, good health, and raising perfect, loving, loyal companions.
After losing our beloved Border Collie, “Madie,” we decided to introduce another pup into our home. This was also the beginning of COVID-19; my husband and I were working remotely. Knowing we had the time and energy to devote to a puppy, we researched many dog breeds. It was then that we fell in love with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. We picked out a tri-colored male and drove non-stop to New Jersey to pick him up. The breeder suggested we not fix and use him for breeding; however, we did not intend to do so then. After we got “Gizmo” home, he immediately took a liking to my husband. He was a compassionate pup who seemed to know exactly what my husband needed emotionally. You see, my husband served time in Iraq and not without some emotional scars. Gizmo seemed to pick up on this instantly, knowing when he was stressed by jumping in his lap.
After some time passed and Gizmo grew older, my husband suggested we start breeding him so he could share his experience with fellow veterans in need of an emotional support animal. That’s how we ended up with Elsa, and our breeding program began. Fortunately, I had a cousin already involved in a fantastic program out of Fort Devens in Massachusetts called “ Clear Path for Veterans New England.” Clear Path also works with 22 Mohawks dedicated to offering veterans service animals for emotional and service needs.
We needed to focus on developing the best breeding program to provide our veterans with the healthiest, most well-rounded, and socially-equipped puppies. Hence, we researched the best quality food and training methods, working with our pups in early intervention from day two (2), and the need to incorporate a desensitization program. After all our planning and several litters, we finally donated our first puppy to a wonderful veteran.
My husband and I could not be prouder to be part of such excellent organizations, and we look forward to donating more puppies in the future. If you are a veteran or know someone who is, please share with them the amazing things happening at Clear Path for Veterans by visiting Clear Path For Veterans (clearpathne.org)
